Account Setup
Set up your SongDrive profile and configure your account preferences.
Initial Account Creation
When you first sign in to SongDrive, your account is automatically created with basic information:
- Username: Automatically set based on your email address
- Email: The email address you used to sign in
- Default Workspace: Created automatically using your email address
No additional setup is required to start using SongDrive, but you can customize your profile and preferences.
Profile Information
Accessing Your Profile
- Click on your profile picture or username in the top navigation
- Select "Profile" from the dropdown menu
- You'll see your current profile information
Updating Your Profile
You can update the following profile information:
Display Name
- Your display name appears to other users when you collaborate
- Can be different from your username
- Used in comments and activity feeds
Profile Picture
- Upload a custom profile picture
- Appears next to your comments and in user lists
- Supports common image formats (JPG, PNG, GIF)
Bio/Description
- Optional description about yourself or your work
- Visible to collaborators in shared workspaces
- Useful for team introductions

Privacy Settings
Workspace Visibility
- Private: Only you can see your workspaces (default)
- Team: Visible to invited team members only
- Public: Visible to anyone with access to your SongDrive instance
Comment Privacy
- Control who can see your comments on shared files
- Options: All users, Workspace members only, Project members only
Activity Visibility
- Control whether your listening activity is visible to others
- Useful for privacy in shared workspace environments
Notification Settings
Email Notifications
Configure when you receive email notifications:
- New comments on your files
- Project invitations from other users
- Workspace updates and changes
- System announcements and updates
In-App Notifications
Control browser/app notifications for:
- Real-time comment notifications
- File upload completion
- Collaboration activity
Playback Preferences
Audio Quality
- Auto: Automatically adjust based on connection speed
- High: Best quality, requires stable internet
- Standard: Good quality, faster loading
- Low: Fastest loading, lower quality
Waveform Display
- Detailed: High-resolution waveform display
- Standard: Balanced detail and performance
- Simple: Basic waveform for slower devices
Auto-play Settings
- Auto-play next file: Automatically play the next file in a project
- Loop single file: Repeat the current file when it ends
- Auto-pause: Pause playback when switching browser tabs
Workspace Management
Default Workspace Settings
When you create new workspaces, they inherit these default settings:
Default Privacy Level
- Set the default privacy for new workspaces
- Can be overridden when creating individual workspaces
Default Member Permissions
- Viewer: Can view and comment on files
- Contributor: Can upload files and create projects
- Admin: Full workspace management permissions
Default Project Settings
- Set default privacy levels for new projects
- Configure default file organization preferences
Workspace Notifications
Control notifications for each workspace separately:
- All activity: Get notified of all changes
- Direct mentions: Only when someone mentions you
- Off: No notifications for this workspace
Security Settings
Two-Factor Authentication (if available)
- Navigate to Security Settings in your profile
- Click "Enable Two-Factor Authentication"
- Follow the setup wizard to configure
- Use an authenticator app for additional security
Active Sessions
- View all active login sessions
- See devices and locations where you're signed in
- Revoke access from specific devices
API Access (for advanced users)
- Generate API tokens for integrations
- Set token permissions and expiration dates
- Monitor API usage and activity
Account Linking
Connect External Services (if supported)
- Google Drive: Sync files from Google Drive
- Dropbox: Import files from Dropbox
- Spotify: Import playlists and track information
- SoundCloud: Link your SoundCloud account

Data Management
Export Your Data
SongDrive provides tools to export your data:
- Project Export: Download individual projects with all files and comments
- Workspace Backup: Create complete workspace backups
- Comment History: Export all your comments and feedback
- User Data: Export profile information and settings
Account Deletion
If you need to delete your account:
- Navigate to Account Settings → Advanced
- Click "Delete Account"
- Warning: This permanently deletes all your data
- Consider exporting important data first
- Confirm deletion with your password
Troubleshooting Profile Issues
Can't Update Profile Picture
- Check that the image is under 5MB
- Ensure it's in a supported format (JPG, PNG, GIF)
- Try refreshing the page and uploading again
Email Notifications Not Working
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Verify your email address is correct in profile settings
- Ensure notification preferences are enabled
Password Reset Issues
- Click "Forgot Password" on the login screen
- Check your email for the reset link
- Link expires after 24 hours - request a new one if needed
